Literacy Learning - WB Monday 25th January 2021
Let's move onto something different! For the next two weeks, we are going to follow the Oak National Academy Y2 and Y3 video lessons based on writing instructions. These videos will also cover the children's yearly objectives for phonics which they can practice in addition to their set weekly spellings and PhonicsPlay/SpellingPlay games. Please click on the pencil icon for your child's year to access one document with website links, lesson planning and key learning being covered this week.
The children will need to watch the Oak National Academy videos each day and pause to complete the set writing activities in their home learning books when prompted by the teacher in the video. Please remind the children to write a short date and title for each piece of work. If you have any problems accessing the website and videos, please inform the office and we will do what we can to help!
Thank you for supporting your children with their writing at home and well done to the children for the hard work they are putting in. Keep it up Rowan Class!
For lots of phonics games and interactive demonstrations, please visit the PhonicsPlay website (https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/) and the SpellingPlay (https://www.spellingplay.co.uk/) website which are free during lockdown!

SpellingPlay is good for demonstrating and playing games based on the rules for weekly spellings. PhonicsPlay is full of games to play to help revise Phase 1 - 5 sounds and tricky words - Ideal for keeping our sounds fresh in our mind for reading and spelling!
Make sure to continue reading regularly at home. It doesn't matter if it is on a tablet, website, a leaflet, in a book, recipe etc. Just read, read and read some more! Please find below a link to the Oxford Owl website where you can access banded reading books for Free - just register with your email. I have also uploaded some PDFs to some stories related to Ancient Egypt for you to enjoy on your own or to read with your family. Please also see the ladybird tab on our class homepage for recommended Year 2 and 3 reads.
