PE and Sport Premium

PE Equipment

What is the PE and sports premium?

Although the Olympics may be a distant memory, the legacy of the London 2012 continues. To help fund Olympians of the future all primary schools have receive additional PE funding. Binsted received £16,587 for the year 2024/25

Schools can choose how they use the funding, for example to:

  • hire specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers during PE lessons
  • support and involve the least active children by running after-school sports clubs and holiday clubs, e.g. the Change4Life clubs
  • provide resources and training courses in PE and sport for teachers
  • run sport competitions or increase pupils’ participation in the School Games
  • run sports activities with other schools

How do we plan to use the new money in 2025/26

We will plan to use some of the money to resource the new physical activity areas, subsidise sporting activities and further training for staff.

Key areas of expenditure this year are:

  • Ongoing CPD for class teachers through quality coaching in multi-sports; rugby; gymnastics; rounders; cricket; football and swimming
  • Dynamos Cricket Sessions for KS2 in the Summer Term provided by an international professional cricket player
  • Support for class teachers with planning and assessment in PE
  • A dedicated swimming coach for 6 weeks in the Autumn term to give swimming lessons to every child in Year 4 and 5 in Alton
  • Ongoing maintenance of physical climbing frame and timber trail and low level ropes to support the teaching of OAA, plus improvement to our Sensory Circuit resources
  • A wide range of additional sporting opportunities for every child, regardless of skill or expertise, through our partnership with Amery Hill and Eggar’s
  • Pupil premium children to access a range of after school multi-skills club and After school club sessions in targeted sports

Impact

Across the school we have an increased rate of attendance at Sporting clubs:

Netball

Hockey

Multi-Skills

Cricket

Football

The impact of these clubs contributes to the school's low exclusion rate and help improve the mental wellbeing and physical health of the children in our school.

The improved physical activity supports the school's Growth mind set culture.  Early internal evidence indicates that their is increased concentration after our after school activities. This Autumn term we have added  additional during school morning sessions aimed largely at KS1 to promote physical activity.
