Silver Birch
Welcome to Silver Birch Class
Welcome to our class page!
How are we halfway through the year already?! Silver Birch class have continued to impress me since Christmas with their desire to learn, hard-work and excellent curiosity for learning. As we build up towards SATs for our Year 6s, we are focussing on ensuring that the children feel as confident as they can in the content they need to have covered. As well as this, we are jetting off (metaphorically - don't worry!) to Brazil to explore the similarities and differences with our local area in Geography, exploring life cycles of plants and different animals in our Science lessons and finally, in our RE lessons, exploring how following God can bring freedom and justice.
We also have lots of exciting trips coming up this half-term, we're off to London to visit the Science Museum and have a tour of Parliament, we have our residential trip to PGL on the Isle of Wight, Bikeability sessions as well as a visit to Amery for a DT afternoon - where we're going to get the opportunity to build our own moon buggies!
If your children have been 'wowing' you at home with something, please feel free to send a picture or a summary of what they have been up to to the School Office - we would love to feature them on our WOW wall in the hall!
Please see our 'What have we been up to?' tab to keep up to date with what we have been doing!
As we don't have set PE days, your PE kit will need to be in school every day, so please make sure you have this ready and named! It would be a good idea to take this home on a Friday to wash and bring back in for the following Monday. We usually have PE on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Don't forget to keep your Mental Maths skills sharp on TTRS or Hit The Button (See links at the top of the page) . I would also like you to review the Year 5/6 spelling list at the top of the page and see which spellings you need to practice.
Homework will be set on a Friday and will be due in on the following Wednesday. This consists of weekly spellings to practice daily, times tables practice, daily reading and a 30 minute activity once a week. Spellings will be tested on a Friday each week.
If there are any questions please just ask!
