Spirituality / RE

At Binsted, we follow the Christian Values of Faith, Hope and Love. We encourage the children to reflect on themselves and the world around them by looking for door, window, mirror and candle moments.

Window moments are one way to explore our own spirituality and how this relates to the world around us. The focus for this reflection is to encourage an appreciation and wonder of the world around us and also a reminder that we can use God’s creation to still us and help develop an inner peace.

Door moments are one way to explore our own spirituality and how this relates to our relationships with others. This reflection focusses on serving others as an outworking of our spirituality, understanding our place in creation as part of a community.

Mirror moments are one way for us all to explore our own spirituality; this one encourages us to consider how we feel about ourselves and our place in God’s creation. These sort of activities can lead to all sorts of discussion but part of the aim of this activity is to help all to understand that they are not alone if they struggle with their own confidence or negative thoughts about themselves from time to time – it is normal. However, we can encourage others to recognise the positives too; also, that Christian’s believe we are all special and unique creations that God values and loves.

Candle moments are one way to explore spiritual concepts that are not tangible – beyond what we can see. This reflection helps us to think about God’s Holy Spirit and how His spirit can be evident in our lives and the world around us.
