Mental Health and Wellbeing

As children grow older and prepare to move to Secondary, it is important for them to have strategies to support their mental health and wellbeing, and for trusted adults around them to understand how to support them best.

As a school, we use 'My Happy Mind' to help equip children with skills to support them in understanding how their brain works, why they might be feeling how they feel and finding ways to celebrate individual character strengths. Parents can access My Happy Mind too, using this link: https://www.learn.myhappymind.org/Customer-Parents-Resources-Activation-Code

As well as this, I've put some resources below to give some starting points for supporting your children at home!

This link will take you to the NHS guidance page for children's mental health: https://www.nhs.uk/every-mind-matters/supporting-others/childrens-mental-health/

This link will take you to the YoungMinds Parent advice page: https://www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/

This link will take you to 'Place2Be's' Parenting site, offering advice on how you can support your child with various things, such as preparing children for Secondary School, what to do if your child's upset by something they've seen in the news or what to do when your child wants a mobile phone. https://parentingsmart.place2be.org.uk/

If you ever have any concerns and want to speak to the school about further support, please contact the office, who will arrange for you to meet with your child's class teacher, or our Mental Health Lead, Mrs Boxley.
