PGL 2026 - Little Canada

Monday 9th March

We arrived early to a foggy Portsmouth and boarded the Fastcat to Ryde to the sound of the fog horn across the Solent.  The crossing was uneventful and quick and we were then on the coach to the PGL centre quickly and easily. The children checked into their rooms and unpacked before a game of Chicken Hero Twin.  They have enjoyed a variety of activities including laser tag and abseiling.  Lots of giggling and happy faces here!

Tuesday 10th March

After a jam-packed first day, Mrs Randall and Miss Bunce were delighted when some of the children asked if they could go to bed BEFORE lights out! We are so proud of all the children, especially those who may have never stayed away from home before!

We started our day with Zipwire, before marching off in to the woods for Survivor, where we built shelters and used flint and steels to make fires. After this, it was lunchtime - a chance to refuel on Spaghetti Bolognese and indulge in the salad bar. We made sure our lunch had gone down as our next activity was Trapeze! The children amazed us with their bravery and warmed our hearts with their support and cheering for each other when anyone felt a bit wobbly. We finished our daytime activities with fencing - which Miss Bunce didn't take many pictures of because we were all wearing masks and it was hard to tell who was who!

After dinner, (We've heard rumours of Mac and Cheese) we have a campfire which all the children are very excited for. Mrs Randall and Miss Bunce are hoping for another successful night and aiming to see if they can get to sleep before the clock strikes twelve!

Wednesday 11th March

We have been blessed with the weather again today, although you wouldn't know it if you saw the muddy children following the sensory walk this morning.  We had a great morning of climbing Jacob's Ladder and then the sensory walk.  It has been a morning reliant on teamwork.  Jacob's ladder sees the children needing to work like a team to progress to the top of the structure with the beams getting further apart the higher they climb.  There was some splendid working together going on to get up the ladder.  The sensory walk is when the children are blindfolded with blackout goggles and they have to rely on their other senses, including listening to their teammates, to navigate the course. Again wonderful to see the children working together so well to overcome the obstacles.

Thursday 12th March 2026

The children had another good night's sleep - I think a week of physical activity is catching up with them a little as we had to wake some of the children up this morning for the first time.  After a hearty breakfast, we headed to the climbing wall and then on to lots of giggles on the low ropes course.  It's rather breezy here today, so that provided added peril as the children tested their balance.  This afternoon we have the giant swing and buggy building.  This evening's activity is the favourite - 'Ambush'.  It is hide and seek in the dark - HUGE fun.  We have had a brilliant week and are looking forward to seeing our families tomorrow to share all of our adventures.

Friday 13th March 2026

A morning of problem solving and high ropes courses.  Then the long walk along the pier to head home.  What a brilliant week!  So proud of the children.
