In Oak class the children learn through teacher directed time as well as through child initiated play. Although we have set 'goals' that we would like to achieve with the children, where we can, we like to follow the children's interests and for the children to make their own learning journey. So below you will only see a skeleton of the learning that will take place.

Maths

We use the White Rose scheme and have daily 'Mini maths' sessions.

In the summer term we will be:

• Working really hard at deepening our understanding of the numbers 0-10 and moving on to 20 and beyond.
• Composing and decomposing shape
• How many now? Adding and taking away
• Sharing, grouping and doubles
• Extending our understanding of odd and even numbers
• Playing lots of maths games 
• Using maths in our play

Drawing Club

In our Drawing club sessions we will be continuing to focus on a variety of picture books, traditional tales and animations from the past. Our focus will be on developing the children's love of stories, nuturing their imaginations, encouraging their super drawings, maths and codes. We will be encouraging all children to use their super phonic knowledge to write sentences, using capital letters and full stops.

Great Inventors from the past

We will be exploring the great inventors from the past. Who were they? What did they invent? When did they invent it? The children will also become 'great inventors' themselves!
