Summer 2:
This half term our Golden Thread is once again ‘Special’ and we will be learning about how precious water is. We will be linking this to traditions and rituals around water, focussing on both the Christian faith and the Hindu faith.
We will be thinking about how Christians use water in a way that shows that it is precious. We will be reading the Bible story of John the Baptist baptising Jesus and further explore the concept of Baptism today and why many Christians become baptised and the use of water in the baptism ceremony.
We will be listening the Hindu story of Shiva saving the world by letting the Ganges flow through his hair and we will be learning about the River Ganges an how today, the river is still precious to many Hindus and how many Hindus believe that the River Ganges is a precious river and they travel hundreds of miles to wash in it.

Summer 1:
This half term we will be learning about, ‘Special Food.’ In particular we will be identifying and describing the food that is used as a symbol in both Christianity and Hinduism. We will be describing what Christians think about when they share their special food of bread and wine and why bread and wine is important for Christians. We will be identify and describe what Hindus think about when they share their special food and why Prashad is important for Hindus.

Spring 2:
This half term we will be learning about the concept of welcoming and how we welcome visitors and new pupils into Binsted School. We will learning about the story of Palm Sunday and how some people welcomed Jesus into Jerusalem. We will be learning about how Christians remember the events of Palm Sunday and how they are remembered and celebrated today.

Spring 1:
This half term we will be learning about the concept of Community and in particular, the Hindu Community. We will also be learning about the concept of Generosity.

Autumn 2:
This half term we will be learning our lines and songs ready to perform our Key Stage 1 traditional version of the Nativity story (with a modern day twist.)
We will learn about the concept of Waiting through Advent and we will also be learning about Incarnation through Understanding Christianity, Key Stage 1 Unit 1.3 – Why does Christmas matter to Christians?

Autumn 1: Harvest
This half term we will learn about Harvest, Harvest Festival and we will be visiting a farm.
