In class, we will work with the children to identify which of the common words they need to focus on.
We will also look at words that are tricky to read and tricky to spell and we will send home a smaller, more personalised list for your child to learn.
Dear Parents/Carers,
Thank you for supporting your children with their regular reading, spellings and maths work at home.
Regular reading in particular is really helping the children to access their learning more independently, apply new vocabulary and articulate some super ideas across topics.
Homework expectations for children in Rowan Class:
Reading
Please read daily with your child.
This can be your child reading to you and reading their banded reading book or a free choice of another book.
It is important that your child can read their banded reading book 90% confidently and independently to help with their understanding of what they are reading. This will mean they will need to read it 3 or 4 times.
Spellings
Words to learn how to spell will be from the high frequency and common exception words for year 1 and year 2.
Maths
Please practise number bonds of 5, 10 and 20.
We will also be practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. This will lead into the times tables for 2s, 5s and 10s and beyond.
