Thank you for supporting your children with their regular reading, spellings and maths work at home. Regular reading in particular is really helping the children to access their learning more independently, apply new vocabulary and articulate some super ideas across topics.
This message is just to clarify our Homework expectations for children in Rowan Class:
We encourage and expect Year 2 and 3 children to engage in 15 minutes worth of home learning each day. This time should be dedicated to around 5 minutes to practise and revisit their weekly spellings and 10 minutes to read 1:1 with an adult. This reading can be from your child's banded reading book or a free choice of another book. With choosing books from home, it is important that your child can read 90% confidently and independently to help with their understanding of what they are reading. Weekly spellings can be found in your child's blue homework book. Spellings will be tested in a lowkey 'quiz' each Friday.
I will also be sending additional homework home in the way of maths practise for the children to revisit key knowledge taught in class. This will be sent home each Friday in blue homework books and should be returned by Wednesday each week. We will of course go through this maths homework together before I set it so children can work as independently as possible. We will mark the work in class on Wednesdays to see how we got on/what needs more practise.
Many thanks as always for your support with your child's learning.
Miss Darby :)
