Spring 2:

This half term we will be learning about Caring for the Planet, including sustainability.  We will be observing Seasonal Changes and learning about Plants and their need for sunlight in order to grow and thrive.

Spring 1:

This half term we will be starting to look at plants.  We will be learning about animals and classifying animals: mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, reptiles.  We will also be comparing and grouping animals: carnivores, herbivores, omnivores.  We will also be identifying what different animals need for survival.  Finally, we will be learning about, sustainability.

Autumn 2:

This half term we will continue to learn about and observe the changing Seasons.

Our main topic will be Materials.  We will be exploring the materials: wood, including paper and cardboard; plastic, glass, metal, fabric, brick and rocks.

We will also be exploring their properties, such as whether materials are bendy, can be squashed, twisted or stretched.

We will also investigate the concepts of: melting and freezing, floating and sinking and absorbing water or not absorbing water.

Autumn 1:

This half term we will learn about Humans.  We will be identifying and naming parts of the human body as well as drawing and labelling parts of the human body.  We will also be exploring our sense of: sight, sound, taste, touch, smell. In addition, we will be looking at how we keep fit and exercise, the food we eat, how we maintain good hygiene and how we look after our teeth.

Throughout the half term, we will also begin to look at seasonal changes.
