Summer 2: Living things and their habitats

This half Term we will explore and compare the differences between things that are living, dead, and things that have never been alive. We will be learning about how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other. We will also be describe how animals obtain their food from plants and other animals, using the idea of a simple food chain, and identify and name different sources of food.

Why not take a walk outside and noticing al the wildlife around and discussing where they live and how they survive!

Summer 1: Seasons - Spring into Summer

This half Term we will again be learning about Seasons, particularly the changes that happen as the seasons turn from Spring into Summer in the UK. We will be thinking about the weather and changes in nature.

We will be studying the changes in weather and observing changes across the four seasons. This will include how day length varies.

Spring 2: Plants

We will learn about the different parts of a plant and the jobs they do to help the plant grow, survive and thrive. We will earn a song to help us remember lots of facts.

Spring 1: Materials and The Uses of Materials

We will learn about different the different types of materials we have in our world and what they are used for, plus the suitability of materials for a purpose and why some materials do not have the right properties to be used for some jobs, e.g. a teapot made out of chocolate, or pants made out of glass.

Autumn 2: Animals, Including Humans

We will learn about different animals, including humans. We will learn the classification of animals and what they need to survive and thrive.

Lots of children love learning about animals. There are many books in the library and lots of fun programmes to watch. Why not make a poster about your favourite animal?
