Being Secretary
Sounds scary but… your role is making sure that FOBS runs smoothly!
This role is perfect for someone with great communication and organisational skills as you will help to organise meetings and manage links between the committee, volunteers, school and wider community.
In more detail:
During Committee Meetings
You help the Chair by sending out the dates, times and agenda for FOBS meetings (1 per half term) with the school and committee members. During the meetings, you take notes, record the key points, decisions made and relevant action points. Afterwards, you write up the minutes to circulate and share with the other members of the committee and wider FOBS community.
Ongoing Responsibilities
If you love to keep things organised, you’ll love this role! Managing communication and organising the publicity for events is a key role of being Secretary. You will need to regularly keep the FOBS Social Media, WhatsApp groups and Website up to date, communicating reminders, notices and the sharing of information.
You will be one of the designated signatories on the FOBS bank account along with the Chair, Vice Chair & Treasurer and check with the Chair that FOBS is registered with regulatory bodies
At the AGM
As with regular meetings, you help the Chair to prepare for the meeting and take minutes on the day.
The Role would suit you if…
You are helpful and motivated to keep FOBS running smoothly, are a good communicator and are confident in creating detailed notes and action plans based on the outcomes of the FOBS meetings.
This is an elected role, at the AGM you will be voted in and asked to be registered on the Charity Commission site.
